CapeDNAseI™ (deoxyribonuclease) is an enzyme that degrades DNA by cleaving the phosphodiester bonds between the nucleotides. Deoxyribonuclease enzyme hydrolyses phosphodiester bonds to produce 5’- phospho and 3′-hydroxy ends. The buffer co-factors optimize the enzyme conformation and are involved in the cleavage of the DNA phosphodiester bonds. Incubation of 10X buffer for 30 minutes with 1 unit (U) of CapeDNAseI™ and 1 µg of DNA results in the degradation of the DNA.
